Overview of the Intro to Trading Course

Learning to trade the markets was the most frustrating and challenging things I ever tried to do.  It took me years before I was generating consistent profits, and even then, I still struggled with making big mistakes and regressing into  bad habits.  The reason it took me so long was because I was teaching myself.  I didn’t have the benefit of the trading courses all of our students are enjoying today.  That’s why as soon as I succeeded as a trader, I began to document everything that worked for me so new traders wouldn’t have to experience the same frustration that I went through.

Risk Management

The first step for every trader is to understand risk.  Every trade carries risk and offers reward.  We have to make a risk vs reward analysis as we evaluate potential trades.  I learned early on that a successful trader must have a positive profit loss ratio, in other words,  your winners should be bigger than your losers.  Additionally, you need to be accurate!  You want to aim for 60-70% success, but even 50% success can result in profits as long as you have a good profit loss ratio.  I will discuss the techniques I use to evaluate risk and achieve your target statistics.

Stock Selection

The first step is learning to manage your risk on every trade, and more importantly, learning to skip trades that carry too much risk.  Once you’ve mastered the concepts of risk management, you need to learn how to choose stocks to trade.  We focus on trading extremes, that means the biggest movers each day.  I look for stocks that have the potential to run up at least 30% intraday.  Generally speaking the biggest moves in the market are the result of breaking news.  That means as day traders we hunt for stocks moving up 5-10% on news, and look to ride the momentum another 10-20% as they approach 30%+ intraday gains.

Chart Patterns

In our Intro to Trading Course we’ll teach you how to find Bull Flags, Bear Flags, Flat Top Breakouts, Flat Bottom Breakdowns, and Rubber Band Reversal Setups.  These patterns, when identified on the strongest stocks, present low risk entry opportunities.  We enter trades based on these setups, using 2:1 profit loss ratios, and holding until we see exit indicators.  In our classes we discuss all the intricacies of our Trading Strategies.
